Georgetown in Penang is not only a UNESCO World Heritage site but also boasts some of the most amazing cafes and coffee shops! While Wifi is generally not so great like in other places like Chiang Mai, there are a few that do have all the requirements for a great remote working place.
Lucky for you, I have done all the research for you and found the best cafes in Georgetown, Penang with great wifi, good coffee, and a nice atmosphere.
Here they are!
Wheeler’s Coffee
Wheeler’s coffee is located right in the center of Georgetown and is definitely our favorite place to work from in Georgetown. The internet is very fast for Penang standards and the coffee is excellent. They also have some good food and we do have lunch there quite often. While the are not that many seating options, it’s generally pretty quiet, and especially if you come in the morning, you can find a good seat with sockets in the vicinity.

Coffee Addict
Coffee Addict is a cozy little cafe tucked away in the corner of Nagore street. It’s definitely a very hipster cafe, as they even have street art painted on their walls, and a very impressive world map etched into one of the brick walls. The coffee and the food they serve is great as well. It can get crowded some days, but never all the time. They also have a big co-working table with many plugs available.

Kraffmen is a new cafe located close to Macalister Road. It’s a really nice cafe with great coffee and also some great breakfast dishes. The wifi has a decent speed as well and there are some plugs available. The food is perhaps slightly on the expensive side, but it’s definitely worth it. Also, try one of their awesome milkshakes!

Black Kettle
Black Kettle is a big but cozy cafe/bakery located near the harbor and Jetties. They serve some pretty decent coffee and also have some amazing pastries, such as croissants, as well as awesome cakes. The wifi speed is alright as well and there are plenty of seating options as it’s quite a big cafe.

Yin’s Sourdough Pizza
This pizza/brunch place is specialized in Sourdough bread and the place is also some kind of library. As such, the internet speed is pretty decent, which makes it quite a nice place to work from. They also serve some pretty decent coffee as well as cakes and you need to try the pizza, it is really good! The only downside is that during the week Yin’s only opens at 11.30AM, so perhaps it’s not for people who are at their most productive in the morning.
You can also check out the famous @CAT coworking space, which is right next door.
