Best Cafes to Work from in Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai has a plethora of amazing cafes and coffee shops, most of which that serve excellent coffee! While in Chiang Mai, we actually preferred going to different cafe’s and work from there, rather than traditional coworking spaces.

We have created a list for you of what we think are the best cafes to work from in Chiang Mai.

Ombra Caffe

We loved this place as it was super cozy, had great internet, great coffee and it was generally not too busy as well as being quite close to where we live. They also have good food, such as eggs benedict and a nice breakfast set. It is located right outside Nimman, within the Santitham area. The only downside that could be said, is that it lacks some natural daylight, but other than that, it’s an amazing place to work at!

Ab’ Petite Cafe

This is a cute and quiet cafe in the Santitham area. The coffee is good and there are a number spots with proximity to sockets. It never gets crowded and it’s generally just very pleasant to work from there, as it’s cozy and the decoration is very cute. The only downside is that it only opens from around 11AM and it is closed on Tuesday.

Akha Ama Coffee

We love this place because it is so close to our apartment and they have probably the best coffee in Chiang Mai. It’s also a really chill place, and the customers that come here, are a mix of locals and foreigners. You can either sit outside on the patio in the tree shade or inside. The only slight downside about this place is that there are no sockets to be found (trust me, we searched everywhere). So what we would do is go there in the morning with a fully charged laptop, work there until lunchtime, and then go either home or work from a different place.

Internet speed: 17-20 mbps

Cappuccino price: 40 TBH

Co Working Cafe

This is a really cool co-working cafe at the river, with an amazing view on the river! It’s a bit outside of the city, but easily accessible by scooter or Uber/Grab. It’s generally quiet, and the internet speed is quite good. If you miss the nature a bit and want to get away from the city, then this is where you can soak in the river view.

This cafe is also a specialty coffee place and the coffee really is pretty amazing. They even roast their own coffee beans and make beautiful latte art! The wifi speed is pretty fast compared to the other cafe’s, there are a number of sockets to be found and it is generally very quiet. It’s located behind Maya mall, right next to the apartment building of  Green Hills.

Internet speed: 30-40 mbps

Cappuccino price: 70 TBH

 Thesis Coffee

This new and really cool cafe is located near the University, which is located to the west of Huay Kaew road. They have excellent wifi, good coffee (& nice scones!) and plenty of sockets. The interior is really pretty as well and it’s not too crowded generally, though I believe it can be full of students at times.

Thank you for this list. The cafe that I we are most looking forward to trying is the one by the river! Followed up closesly by the one serving scones. We live nature & scones. Somebody should open up a cafe with jungle setting, serving scones and ultra fast internet and we’ll call it paradise!
