Best New Digital Nomad Destination in 2025

Digital nomading has been a thing for quite a while already - in fact, it is said that this lifestyle might have started all the way back in 1983.

In the early days, Chiang Mai in Thailand and Bali in Indonesia were the rising hot spots for digital nomads and remote workers. While they are still pretty much the hot spots for digital nomads, people are looking for the next best destination to be as a remote worker.

After doing some research on this topic, a well as my own experience, here are some predictions from my side where I think nomads will flock to more in the coming year.

Siargao in The Philippines

The Philippines are getting more traction as a digital nomad destination these days, and for good reasons: Breathtaking beaches, friendly people who speak English and the cost of living is affordable. Especially if you love surfing, then this is the place for you. Quite a few coworking and coliving spaces have been popping up as well on the island, such as Coco Space and Cowork Surf.

The only downside here might be the somewhat spotty internet connection, which I’ve heard some people mentioning.

Taipei in Taiwan

Maybe Taipei is not so new as a destination for digital nomads, however, I personally haven’t seen that much buzz yet around the Taiwanese capital.

Taipei is a big city that somehow doesn’t feel too crowded, is affordable and has an amazing food scene. On top of that, I have found that Taiwanese people are some of the friendliest and kindest people I have ever met in my life. The infrastructure in Taipei is also top-notch, and if you are craving some nature after being in the concrete jungle, you can easily head into the mountain side and country side to find beautiful and lush nature waiting for you.

Melbourne in Australia

If you are a foodie and a coffee aficionado like I am, then Melbourne really is the place to be. The amount of amazing restaurants and coffee shops is really mind-blowing. And you can also find any cuisine you can think of, as Melbourne is kind of a melting pot of so many different cultures.

The only downside of this city (and Australia in general) is the cost - Australia and Melbourne are getting more and more expensive. Even though Melbourne isn’t yet at quite the level of expensiveness of Sydney but it is getting there.

If you can afford it though, Melbourne is an amazing city to base yourself in for a couple of months.

Warsaw in Poland

An up and coming city in Northern Europe, Warsaw is know for it’s culture, thriving tech scene and affordability. In fact, TimeOut has ranked Warsaw as number two in their list of upcoming cities for digital nomads. The city itself is beautiful and there are also many green spaces.

Personally, I haven’t yet been to Poland or Warsaw before, but I’ve heard it is a really great and welcoming place from many people and I’m super curious!

Cape Town in South Africa

Cape Town has been named best city to visit in 2025 by TimeOut, so there must be a good reason for it! It’s not only stunning nature and wildlife that you can find here, but also a vibrant city life, food scene and night life.

If you love wine, then it’s one of the best places to check out the wineries around the city. It’s actually also the number 6 destination on NomadList (at the time of writing), as the city receives high ratings from nomads for affordability, mild climate and a great community of remote workers.

Bucharest in Romania

A street with buildings in Bucharest, Romania

I have personally never been to Romania, but I have heard many great things about the country as well as Bucharest. Not only is it super affordable, there are also many great coffee shops and restaurants, and the wifi is generally very fast.

The city itself looks very grand, and you can definitely see a French/Parisian influence in the city’s architecture style. On top of that, if you venture a bit outside of the city, you can discover amazing nature as well as beautiful palaces, such as the famous ‘Dracula’ castle (in reality called Bran castle).
