It’s the second time this event is organised by the city of Fukuoka, and this year it’s even bigger, with more than 20 speakers, and more than 100 people attending. Last year, 49 people attended so this it’s grown significantly.

Reviews from the Event in 2023

Last year, Colive Fukuoka was held for the first time and almost 50 people attended, which doesn’t seem like much but for being the first time, it’s definitely not bad!

Reviews mention how much fun the event was, and how easy it was to connect with other attendees, digital nomads and locals, even creating lasting friendships. They also mention the great way Japanese culture was introduced via the event, and the opportunity to get to know Japanese traditions and customs a little better. People also mentioned how lovely it was to get to meet other local Japanese people and get to know them a bit better.

Fukuoka as a Digital Nomad Destination

Fukuoka is an often overlooked city when travellers visit Japan, who instead flock to the popular cities of Kyoto, Osaka and of course Tokyo. But Fukuoka has a lot to offer! It’s a seaside city that is known for its ancient temples, its nearby islands such as Shikanoshima and Nokonoshima, and it used to be the main port city during medieval Japan times.

It’s also known as the birthplace of Hakata Tonkotsu ramen, which is a delicacy in all of Japan, so definitely try it when you’re in Fukuoka. The city is known for many other foods too, such as Yatai, Sushi and Mizutaki hotpot, so it’s definitely also a foodie destination.

Recently, digital nomads have taken notice of Fukuoka too, and it has become a relatively popular digital nomad destination.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to come visit Colive Fukuoka this year, but I hope I can go next year because it sounds like a super fun event for digital nomads, as well as an amazing opportunity to travel to Fukuoka and discover all it has to offer.
