Where to Find the Best Specialty Coffee in Valencia, Spain [Updated 2024]

As Valencia is gaining more popularity with expats, tourists, and even digital nomads, the coffee scene has started to grow as well.

More and more specialty coffee shops are opening up, which is great because I love myself some amazing coffee (I am a millennial after all..).

So without further ado, here's a list of my favorite coffee places in Valencia!

Quicklinks:

Casa Fran

A flat white

Casa Fran is located in the Botanico area, which is very close to the central market in Valencia. It’s a beautifully designed specialty coffee and breakfast place that serves amazing coffee, including La Cabra coffee, as well as fresh pastries and some classic breakfast dishes, such as Shakshuka and Avocado toast.

Definitely try their Alfajor cookie (an Argentinian delicacy, which is a cookie made out of corn flour and dulce de leche) as well as their Sparkling Lemon cold brew drink, which is super refreshing on a hot summer day in Valencia.

It’s also a great place to work from for a few hours, as they have a big co-working table. In fact, you will often find me there on a Friday working on my blog 😄

  • Location

  • Open everyday from 9AM to 6PM (except closed on Sundays)

TALLAT

If you find yourself by the beach in Cabanyal, you should definitely check out this specialty coffee place, which, according to my coffee loving boyfriend, is the best in town. They also sell some really nice pastries and sweets to go with your coffee.

Not only do they have lovely coffee, they also organise fun coffee tasting workshops, which are fun to try if you're into coffee and want to learn more about it.

  • Location

  • Open Monday to Friday from 8:30AM to 3:30PM and Saturday and Sunday from 9AM to 4:30PM

Los Picos

A great coffee place in the hip neighbourhood of Ruzafa is "Los Picos", close to the Central Park. They also serve delicious sandwiches; my favourite is the chicken sandwich. And don't get me started on the grilled cheese!

They have a little terrace too, which is great for some people and dog watching.

  • Location

  • Open Friday to Sunday from 9:30AM - 4:30PM and Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30AM to 3PM (Mondays and Tuesdays closed)

Fav Coffee

A flat white and some toast

Located in the city centre, this cute cafe makes great specialty coffee and they also serve light breakfast and some pastries. You MUST try their sweet bun filled with pistachio cream, which is probably one of the best pastries I’ve ever had in Valencia. They sell out quickly so make sure you get there early to find the pistachio bun.

They use coffee beans from Hola coffee roaster in Madrid, which is one of my favorite roasters here in Spain. They also have a small terrace to enjoy the sun.

  • Location

  • Open daily from 8AM to 8PM (except on weekends, open at 10AM - 6PM)

Borja Specialty Coffee

A specialty coffee and brunch spot that’s located close to the City of Arts and Sciences. It’s a very gorgeously designed cafe where you can sit both inside and outside on a quite terrace, and they serve fantastic coffee ( coffee beans from Hola coffee) as well as pastries and some breakfast toasts and sandwiches. Perfect for a lazy Sunday morning coffee and breakfast spot.

It recently opened and is already a specialty coffee hotspot in Valencia. I’ve only been once so far but I will definitely be back often!

  • Location

  • Open daily from 8AM to 8PM (except weekends, open at 9AM)

Blackbird cafe

a flat white and pastries

One of my favourite coffee places in Valencia, Blackbird cafe serves great coffee, but also some of the best pastries and baked goods you can find in Valencia.

They are located in Ruzafa, just next to the neighbourhood market. If you have a thing for cinnamon rolls, you definitely need to go here and try there famous brioche cinnamon bun, which my boyfriend has claimed to ' Bring world peace'. And I couldn't agree more!

If you're not that into cinnamon buns (not sure if that's possible though) then there are loads of other pastries to choose from, and they are all equally exceptional. No laptops are allowed here during the weekend, but during the week you can sit at the big communal table and work from there.

  • Location

  • Open daily from  9am to 3pm (except Tuesdays closed)

La Guashira Specialty Coffee

A specialty coffee takeaway spot that is right behind the central market in Valencia. They’ve got great coffee and also sell their own roasted coffee beans.

If you’re in the area and need your coffee fix, go to this little takeaway spot!

  • Location

  • Open Tuesday to Friday from 10AM to 5PM and Saturday and Sunday from 9:30AM to 7PM (closed on Mondays)

Fran Cafe

This little take-away coffee place is located in the heart of Ruzafa and serves some excellent coffee as well as an assortment of pastries. It’s a sister establishment of the earlier mentioned Casa Fran.

  • Location

  • Open daily from 8AM - 1PM and 3PM - 6PM (except Sundays open from 8:30AM to 1:30PM)

Cafeinomanos

Another takeaway specialty coffee place, that is located very close to the Ayuntamiento square, in the centre of Valencia. Excellent specialty coffee made by a great barista. You can also buy different specialty coffee beans.

  • Open Monday to Thursday from 8AM to 2PM, Fridays from 8AM to 5PM, Saturday 9AM to 5PM (Closed on Sundays)

Flying Bean

Another great coffee place is Flying Bean, located in the neighborhood of Jesus, close to the Joaquin Sorrolla train station. Not only do they serve great coffee, both espresso-based and filter coffees,It's also a great place to work from as they have a co-working space, so you can always bring your laptop as your coffee companion ;)
