Hotel Review: Staybridge Suites Thonglor Bangkok
Hotel name: Staybridge Suites Thonglor Bangkok by IHG
Hotel Classification: 4 stars
Booking Link: On Booking.com
Staybridge Suites Thonglor in Bangkok is an IHG brand that is geared towards both business travellers and leisure travellers. The hotel is modern and quite new; all the rooms have a small kitchen, and there is a pool, a gym, an onsen and a coworking space.
Located in the heart of the bustling Thonglor neighbourhood in Bangkok, there are a lot of restaurants, cafes and bars that you can find within walking distance of the hotel.
I stayed at the Staybridge Suites Thonglor for 11 nights and here’s a review of my stay at this hotel!

Note: The below review summarises my independent thoughts on my stay at Staybridge Suites Bangkok Thinglor an IHG hotel. This isn’t a collaboration with this hotel as I stayed there on my own cost. Hotel Grounds
Lobby
The hotel grounds have a simple but stylish decor - in my opinion it has a bit of Japanese vibe to it, which I like! I love the wooden panels on the wall, as you can see in the photo above, as well as the blue artsy touches.
When you enter the hotel, you have a nice seating area or lounge on the left and the reception is right in front.
On the right side, you can enter the main restaurant of the hotel, which is called “The Coffee Club”
Coworking Space
On floor ‘M’, which is just above the ground floor, there is also a co-working space, where you can also get coffee, tea or water and lounge a bit.
Quite nice to have a dedicated space to work from for a bit, and it was also only card accessible, so it’s not open to the public or anything.
Pool, Gym and Onsen
There is a rooftop pool on the 20th floor, which is not huge but still a decent size. During our stay, it was sadly closed for 3 days for maintenance, but I did manage to use it before and after the maintenance.
What I also really enjoyed was the onsen, which they have separate for both men and women. And each time I used it, there was no one there, so it felt super private and serene.
Next to the pool, there is also a gym which is decently sized and has weights and a few machines.

Room
We got a King studio suite that also had a small kitchen as well as a small but cozy couch area. The bathroom is spacious and there is also a bathtub. I loved the bathroom amenities and soaps, which smelled really good.
One thing I noticed was that the water temperature in the shower was a bit unstable - it would sometimes turn scorching hot, before returning back to ‘normal’.
The bed was very comfortable as well and my partner and I each had two huge pillows. I do believe the Intercontinental hotel brand has some of the best beds and mattresses!
The kitchenette was equipped with a small stovetop, a microwave, a fridge, a toaster and the basic kitchen necessities. We didn’t really use it much, but it was convenient to heat up food and make tea and such. To be honest, I think nowadays all hotel rooms should have at least a small kitchen. There was also a washing machine, which is always super convenient to have when you’re traveling!
What I thought was very convenient were the multiple plug outlets as well as USB ports that were at the bedside table and also the small dining table for two next to the kitchen.
All in all, a great room for a decent price 👍

Food
Our room rate included breakfast, which was buffet style at the “Coffee Club” cafe on the ground floor.
The selection was decent, with a lot of Japanese, Thai and a few Western options. You could also get eggs to order. Everything was decent quality but nothing extraordinary.
The breakfast was often very busy and full, and depending on the time you would go, it would hard to even find a seat.
There is another cafe adjacent to the breakfast area, called “..”. They have juices and coffee but the coffee was just okay and I would recommend going to the opposite Mall to get a good coffee at Rise.
Rooftop Bar
At the top of the building, there is also a fancy rooftop bar called “Lavish”. We tried going up once but it looked very fancy and you need a reservation, so we didn’t check it out at the end.
When I checked Google maps it seems to be a night club/skybar, but it only open Friday night apparently. It’s a bit confusing to be honest, but we also didn’t ask the staff or anything.

Service
The staff were friendly and very helpful most of the times.
We had to extend our stay for a few nights and they made sure to give us decent rates. We also asked for late check-out which we could get to our requested time. It’s probably because it’s low season currently in Bangkok, but I still felt well taken care of.
Shuttle service to the BTS
There was a shuttle that could conveniently take you to the Thonglor BTS station, which just takes about 5 minutes by shuttle. In the morning until 12, it goes frequently and works on a first come first serve basis. Each time we needed it, it was always there, so it really came in handy if you want to go to the station but don’t feel like walking in the heat.
In the afternoon it runs every hour and every half hour it leaves from the BTS station back to the hotel.
Wifi speed
The wifi speed at the hotel is pretty stable and fast. I tested the speed in the room and the coworking space and it was always around 50 Mbps.
I had a couple of calls in the hotel as well and they were pretty stable, just once the connection kind of dropped.
Service rating: 9/10
Location
The Location of the Staybridge Suites Thonglor is super convenient, as it’s located about 10 minutes walk from the Thong Lor BTS station. From this skytrain stop, you can zoom right into the rest of the Sukhumvit area and beyond.
There are also many restaurants and cafes around, as well as a cool mall called “Marche” where you can find restaurants, cafes, a supermarket and a few shops.
In the area of Thong Lor, you can find a lot of Japanese restaurants, as well as the Don Donki mall (a Japanese grocery store and general store) which is about a 15 minute walk.

Pros & Cons
Pros
Very convenient location, about 10 minutes walk to the BTS Thonglor stop and many cafes and restaurants around the hotel.
Comfortable, clean and spacious room with small kitchen
Extremely friendly staff that are very helpful and kind.
Nice rooftop pool and also an onsen and sauna, which was always completely empty when I used it.
Cons
Breakfast is okay but nothing special but it gets very busy, which makes the room feel crowded.
Depending on which room you get and how noise sensitive you are, it might be a bit noisy at night because the hotel is located next to a busy road. I thought it was okay in our room, as our room was facing away from the main road.
The water temperature control in the shower was a bit strange and not really stable. Sometimes it would get really hot and suddenly it was cold again.
Overall Hotel rating: 8.3/10
