Best Specialty Coffee Places in Madrid
Having lived in Valencia for almost 6 years, I’ve been to Madrid several times, as it’s super easy to get to Madrid by train from Valencia by high-speed train. So I’ve done several day or weekend trips to Madrid and was able to discover quite a lot of amazing specialty coffee places. And let me tell you - there are a lot of great coffee places in Madrid.
Find below a list of my favourite specialty coffee shops in Madrid, Spain ☕
Toma Cafe
Toma Cafe has two locations in the city centre of Madrid (conveniently called Toma Cafe 1 and Toma Cafe 2). It’s definitely one of my favourite specialty coffee places in Madrid. Not only do they serve excellent specialty coffee, I think their space is also extremely cozy and I just love the general ambiance in this cafe. They also serve delicious pastries and some light breakfast bites, such as tostada’s and sandwiches.
Open daily from 8AM to 8PM
Acid Cafe
Acid cafe is located close to the hipster neighbourhood of barrio de las letras, which is close to the botanic gardens. They serve amazingly good specialty coffee, as well as fantastic baked goods - their pastries are really quite something. I really love their cardamom buns.
Open daily from 8:30AM to 8PM, on Saturday & Sunday opens at 9AM
Misión Cafe
Another one of my favourites in Madrid, is Misión cafe which you can find in the cool neighbourhood of Malasaña.
Open daily from 8:30AM to 9PM, Saturdays and Sundays opens at 9AM
Hola Coffee
Known for their coffee roasts all around the continent, Hola coffee has been a staple in the specialty coffee scene in Spain for many years. I myself have bought their coffee beans many times for my own home-made coffee!
Open daily from 8AM to 8PM, on Saturday & Sunday opens at 9AM
NAJI SPECIALTY COFFEE
If you love anything pistachio like me, then you should definitely come to this cafe! They have a pistachio cheesecake that is to die for! They also have some quirky pistachio coffee drinks which are apparently really good.
And, you know it’s a great specialty coffee spot when the coffee master himself, James Hoffmann, visited the store to speak with the owner.
Highly recommend this cafe!
Open daily from 10AM to 8PM
💡 Are you looking for a place to stay in Madrid? Check out the NH Collection Madrid Suecia Hotel which I loved - it’s right in the city centre too!
If you’re looking for something more on a mid-budget, check out Akeah Hotel Gran Via , which is also super central, and close to many coffee shps!
FOUR Madrid Specialty Coffee
Another amazing specialty coffee and brunch places is FOUR, located in the centre of Madrid, close to Plaza Mayor. Not only do they serve outstanding specialty coffee, they also have some amazing quality breakfast dishes. This place also has stellar reviews on Google maps, and many praise the scrambled eggs in particular.
Open daily from 10AM to 6PM (Tuesdays Closed)
Geisha Specialty Coffee
If you name your cafe after the most expensive variety of specialty coffee beans, then it must be good 🤔 Geisha Specialty Coffee is located right in the city centre of Madrid, close to the Callao metro stop. They also serve breakfast dishes and some sweets, such as cakes and croissants.
Open daily from 9AM to 6PM
Religion Coffee
This cool specialty coffee place has two locations in Madrid: One in the neighbourhood of Goya (close to the Retiro park) and one more north, in the Castellana neighbourhood. It’s a very elegant and minimalist cafe, and on top of amazing coffee, they also serve some tostadas and pastries.
